Let me tell you a story. A story of a newborn and family photographer with an almost 8 year old child. A story of an unexpected traumatic birth, a long recovery, a divorce, a move, care for elders, death and just life. This isn’t a sob story though, far from it. It’s a story of life’s unexpected curve balls that thwart even the best of intentions. I am no unicorn. Everyone has struggles in life and if I speak to the moms out there, I feel confident in saying that we are all just trying our best to make it through each day caring for everyone we love.
Do I get my child in the studio once a year? Usually, because photo gifts are so special for her dad and grandparents. But what do I do with the photos that sit on my hard drive that I take yearly of my child? Nothing….the answer is NOTHING! They sit on my iMac. The few I edit for gifts might also reside in my iPhone but other than that I do nothing with them. Why do you ask? Because I am a mom and a business owner. My priorities are to love and take care of my child, to work and to maintain a household myself. Of course my intent is not to do nothing with the digital version of these glorious memories of all the faces and all the sass that encompasses just how my daughter is right now in this very moment. However, the reality is that picking a wall, designing a gallery or printing out art falls way to the bottom of my endless to do list being the only adult in this household. Even when I was a household of two adults, it still didn’t make the cut. And then, all of a sudden she is a year older and my effort goes to at least getting her in to my studio to take the yearly photos.
Raise your hand if you have digital files sitting on your hard drive from a professional photography session that you have not printed professionally 🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️. While you are winning at life if you are booking that photographer once a year or every other year to document all the changes of your family, are you enjoying them on the daily? What are you doing with them? They go up on social media; facebook or Instagram. You maybe make a reel if you fancy. Ok so here is my point, and I swear I have one, and it’s why I am in the business of creating art for my clients instead of just giving digital files. I created wall art for her dad and step mom for Christmas so I created one for me as well and hung it up in my house. In her almost 8 years of life I have done this once before and she was 6 months old. I walk by this new framed art piece every single day. The joy I feel when I walk by this area in my house catapulted the need for this blog post. I get it, time is fleeting and there is only so much you can accomplish in a day. This constant concept of life is what I have built my business around. It’s why I run a full service portrait studio that styles your family’s session and wardrobe to your unique preferences and designs your wall art to sizes and specifics that fit your home. I can electronically show you what different options look like on your actual walls so you can make those choices seeing what the final outcome will look like before committing. The outcome is beautiful art of your family that I create for you. Your family is what you love most in the world, right? Why wouldn’t you want to pass by your very own heirloom art of your family up on your walls without any additional effort on your part.
So let me help you bring this to fruition. Contact the studio today and let’s have a chat. I handle everything because sometimes it’s all so overwhelming but you need the photos. You need the memories and I am here to give that to you taking all the pressure off the table. Just walk through my doors.
Side note – my little is obsessed with Pokémon right now. She proudly displays this photograph in her room. I always love seeing what kiddos bring with them to their photography session – what they cannot live without at this moment in time because next year it will be different. I always try to snap a photo of it to make them feel special about it. After all, the children are my VIP clients because we all know, if the child is not happy about the photography session, then no one is happy about the session! So here at the studio there is no forcing smiles. There is only fun promoting and genuine happiness. This is an experience I want your kids happy about. I want them excited to come back next year for updated photos because they remember they had fun! And mama, is there a better gift than that? I’ll let you marinate on that and hope to hear from you soon.
